This Mandela Day, our team visited the children and nurses at the Thelle Mogoerane Regional Hospital in Johannesburg.
Our aim was to uplift the spirits of the children, some who have been there for weeks, by distributing care packs and to provide entertainment courtesy of Chris from Miles of Smiles with his amazing balloon animals and magic tricks.
Our government hospitals are under immense pressure, and we wanted to assist in relieving some of this by distributing children’s care packs within the Children’s Wards as well as necessity care packs for the nurses. The nurses’ packs included all your basic groceries whilst the children’s packs included educational toys and healthcare items.
We didn’t stop there! We also provided Baby Healthcare packs for the Neonatal Ward which included an assortment of items including nappies, wet wipes, bottles and so much more!
In total we distributed 577 packs.
Dr Ferini Dayal, medical practitioner and Miss International South Africa titleholder, graciously assisted us with our visit to the hospital and joined us as we sat with the children chatting and playing with their new toys.
